The Auckland Piano Trio is formed by pianist Xing Wang, cellist James Yoo, and violinist James Jin. The members of this newly formed chamber group are high profile artists who had coincidentally started working and living in Auckland since the beginning of 2015. Both James Yoo and James Jin are permanent members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, while Xing Wang is currently completing her PhD degree in piano performance. The first concert of the Auckland Piano Trio was held in the St. Heliers Auditorium in 2015, featuring piano trios by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and John Psathas.
