Olympic Cultural Festival Programme 1

27 August 2008

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra has been invited to perform at the Olympic Cultural Festival in Beijing as part of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In this performance in the beautiful Forbidden City Concert Hall, their programme will include the premiere of John Psathas’ Olympic Music, a suite based on the music that he composed for the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The rest of the programme conducted by the NZSO’s Music Director, Pietari Inkinen, consists of Elgar’s Cello Concerto with acclaimed Chinese soloist Li Wei, and Sibelius’ Symphony No 2.
