CMNZ Schools Contest Finale 20089 August 2008 7:00 PM |
The 2008 New Zealand Community Trust Chamber Music Contest presented annually by Chamber Music New Zealand and now in its 43rd year, is the longest running youth music competition in New Zealand and is the only nationwide chamber music competition for young musicians and composers.
The Contest is divided into two sections: Instrumental Performance and Original Composition. The latter award is supported by SOUNZ. This year it has been won by David Taylor from Macleans College in Auckland for Myrrh, written for flute, clarinet, bassoon & piano.
At this Finale concert Myrrh will be performed and David awarded his prize along with performances from the eight finalist chamber groups. These eight have been chosen from the 492 ensembles involving 1,885 students that took part in the District Contests.
