About

Prelude for Allegro and Strings was commissioned by the Alex Lindsay String Orchestra. The whole work generates from a six-note pattern announced in the opening bars. Colouristic writing is anchored by raw and resonant open fifths - most notably during a plaintive viola solo in the middle of the work.
