The Choral festivals website notes that:
Trelew International Choir Contest is a cultural enterprise in which music represents the hope of finding a common language to express peace and harmony among the people of the world. Since 1993, The International Choir Contest has been carried out with no interruptions, taking a notorious place in the choral competitions of the world. It is not only artistic but it is also educational, as international choral workshops have an important role providing participants with an appropriate opportunity for improvement and exchange. The workshops are open to the local community and they receive people from different places of origin as "observers".
This year David Hamilton has been invited to adjudicate and to include some New Zealand music in the massed choir workshop.
