On Friday 7th May contemporary music group Okta presents Hamilton’s edgiest concert of the year.

Guests 'Sonic Warp' return with laptop and light table, enhanced this time with a bank of iPhones that will become a musical ensemble in the hands of techno maestro "Jeremy Mayall":http://sounz.org.nz/contributor/composer/1258. Mayall also joins "Richard Nunns":http://sounz.org.nz/contributor/performer/1300 in the new work Nebula Puoro for taonga puoro, theremin, digital effects and samples.

Voices of the land and beyond are mixed in "Martin Lodge":http://sounz.org.nz/contributor/composer/1065’s new work Locus Iste. Meaning ‘this is the place’, the piece brings live video feeds, improvisation and digital dissemination into a new meditation on time and place. Nunns, Mayall and Lodge are joined by Horomona Hora and members of the New Zealand Chamber Soloists in this innovative, multimedia work.

West meets East in the premiere of Phillippa Ulenberg’s Moon Mountain for the highly expressive traditional Chinese instrument the guzheng. It is joined by traditional Māori and Western instruments to unique effect.

International award winning Hamilton composer "Hannah Gilmour":http://sounz.org.nz/contributor/composer/1787’s electronic piece Cricket completes the concert along with Lizzie Dobson’s settings for soprano and laptop computer of the quirky Janet Frame poem Wrong Number.

An evening of surprising and involving music is assured.
