From Garden to Grave

Concert

Margaret Medlyn and Bruce Greenfield present a benefit recital of songs and song cycles. All proceeds of the concert will contribute to a new postgraduate scholarship for talented young performers at the New Zealand School of Music (NZSM), set up and supported by Professor Jack C. Richards.

Two of these works, From Garden to Grave by Jenny McLeod, a setting of poems by Janet Frame, and Cages for the Wind by NZSM Senior Lecturer Stephan Prock, were commissioned by Jack C. Richards especially for these two performers and they will be heard publicly for the first time. Stephan's work is a setting of poems by the late Alistair Te Ariki Campbell.

In addition, the programme features songs by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Eric Korngold.
