Creative New Zealand Composer-in-Residence at the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī 2019–2020

Opportunity

APPLICATIONS OPEN: Creative New Zealand Composer-in-Residence at the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī 2019–2020

The Composer-in-Residence scheme at the NZSM was established in 2004, and is one of only two established annual composer residencies in New Zealand. It offers a substantial range of professional development opportunities for the successful composer, including relationships with the Lilburn Residence, Wai-te-ata Music Press, Rita Angus Cottage, Randall Cottage, Futuna Chapel, and many Wellington-based organisations, ensembles, performers and galleries.

To date, the Composer-in-Residence scheme has resulted in over 50 new works, ranging from works for jazz ensemble, to operas, to works for full symphony orchestra, to works involving musical robots.

We particularly encourage composers/sound artists from all genres of music to apply (including, but not limited to, jazz, taonga puoro, sonic arts, and non-scored-based music). We also particularly encourage women and gender-diverse composers/sound artists to apply.

Applications are due by Friday 10 May, for the position beginning 1 July
