Classical piano meets Big Band jazz! New Zealand’s premiere classical and jazz musicians come together for this special concert as part of the National Jazz Festival.
Classical piano maestro Michael Houstoun and renowned jazz artist Rodger Fox are masters of their craft. The joining of these two New Zealand icons will blend the best of classical with the best of jazz. Featuring Michael Houston on piano and the Rodger Fox Big Band with special guests International saxophone artist Roger Manins and New Zealand’s leading jazz and blues vocal stylist, Erna Ferry.
The programme features: Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op.26 (Movement 1) Commissioned pieces by Bill Cunliffe Raff-Riff (Jazz Toccata) by Mike Nock Two pieces by John Psathas
