About

Somehow the wily Ben Wilcock has wrangled it; he has whirled up particles of music and science and created, a rhythm stick…

Unlike its rounded predecessors ‘Sneaky Weasel’, the debut album from his jazz trio ‘Ben Wilcock and The Jelly Rolls’, is the first (in NZ) to be released as an ultra-modern USB credit-card.

Rolling around the hoods and hangouts of the capital metropolis since 2011, The Jelly Rolls have stewed up a flavoursome brew. Concocted with the meaty beats of Scottish import, drummer John Rae, and the tangy upright playing of bassist Daniel Yeabsley, the resplendent Ben Wilcock takes centre stage on piano, suffusing Harlem Stride, Boogie Woogie as well as the influences of jazz piano greats, such as Errol Garner and Ahmad Jamal. Spicy Wellington stalwarts Colin

Hemmingsen and Nick Tipping guest feature on bass clarinet and double bass respectively.

The ‘Sneaky Weasel’ USB credit-card album will take you back in time in futuristic fashion, with your choice of WAVs and MP3s, alongside a delectable garnish of liner notes; and top-tapping compositional duties have been divvied up between the Hamiltronian B.Wilcock, and American bucaneers F.Waller, D.Ellington and C.Porter.
