About
Heiva Te Tupuna Vahine Bounty, by Jacqui Teio Chapman and Sonya Shone, is a musical tribute to the forgotten Tahitian women of the HMAV Bounty. These are the women whose daughters in 1838 were the first in the world to secure the right to vote, some 55 years before their New Zealand sisters.
This tribute is a three part work - a Trilogy comprising a new CD & accompanying Songbook and Historical study of the context of the lives and times of these remarkable Tahitian women. The 14 track CD and 250 pages Songbook include original transcriptions and arrangements of both traditional and contemporary songs of Tahiti & chants from adjoining islands renamed the Cook Islands.
