About

This cycle of settings of the poetry of Brian Turner was written for the Renaissance Singers of Palmerston North. Brian Turner lives near Dunedin, and in addition to a number of collections of poetry, has written extensively on sport, recreation and environmental issues. His poetry draws heavily on the landscapes and images of the Otago area of New Zealand’s South Island. There are often references to music, and this aspect of the poetry particularly appealed to me.

The three poems are all descriptive of landscapes. The general mood of the music is impressionistic with few significant musical climaxes.
