This work is based on a blessing spoken by a Tainui elder to King Tawhaio, the second Maori King in 1884 on his imminent departure to England to attempt to see Queen Victoria and seek her intercession regarding the unjust land confiscations suffered by Waikato tribes following the land wars. The work is able to be performed in many contexts and makes a great addition to any program.

It has been performed in concert and more personal occasions. More recently it was performed in a welcome concert for participants in an International Music and dance Education Conference at the University of Waikato.
