The song Darling Johnny-O was published in 1965 by the Auckland Workers' Educational Association in a collection titled New Zealand Folksongs, edited by Neil Colquhoun. The authors of words and tunes are unknown. This is an arrangement of the version for voice and piano which appears in Four New Zealand Songs (1990).
