About

The Sun Rising was commissioned by recorder player, Zana Clarke and given its first performance in June, 2009, at Flinders Anglican Church, Melbourne, by Zana and organist Lachlan Redd.

The piece draws on, extends and develops melodic shapes from Phoebus Rises, a work for treble recorder, voice, cello and harpsichord in which different texts by Donne, Shakespeare and Blom about the sun are set.
