About
This work was written for St Matthews Chamber Orchestra. The title 'distant voices' reflects on the way in which the words of those who go before us speak to us through the stories, writings, and objects that they leave behind. I have been thinking of this in the centenary of World War One, as the horror and pointless suffering emerges from old letters, journals, and eye-witness accounts.

Difficulty note
Very good community or school orchestras, or professional orchestra. String parts are very straight-forward. Woodwind parts are more challenging.
