About

The two movements of Water Features use transcriptions of water noise as raw material, transformed and recast to highlight their dynamism, playfulness, movement, colour, and violence. Peripeteia refers to a series of turning points, a sense of spontaneity and a change (or reversal) of flow. Rivulets are very small trickles of liquid, which (in this case) are examined in extreme close-up.

Commissioned note

Water Features was composed for Barefoot Musicians, with funding from Creative New Zealand.
