About

Carmen ad Celebrandum (A Song to Celebrate) is based on the Auckland Grammar School Song (Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott by Martin Luther). It was written to celebrate the sesquicentenary of the school. The work begins with an orchestral fanfare, followed by a recitative and aria with a baritone soloist. The orchestra then develops the themes of the school song in an orchestral interlude and the work concludes with an orchestrated version of the school song.
