About

Orowaru (the rippling sound of water) is an evocation of the sounds of trout fishing rivers around Turangi, Lake Taupo, New Zealand. There are three linked sections with the titles taken from three rivers in the area:

  1. Hinemaiaia River
  2. Waipehi Stream
  3. Tongariro River

There is some birdsong and maybe the odd taniwha!

Commissioned note

Commissioned by Chamber Music Trust to be performed by Piers Lane, Hiroshi Ikematsu and members of the New Zealand String Quartet
