About

Five Summer Songs is a set of five miniatures for string orchestra. The first is a variation on the medieval round Sumer is Icumen In. The second is a transcription of a song by the composer. The third explores the Southern Hemisphere dilemma of Christmas carols in the middle of the heat of summer. The fourth draws on elements of popular songs and the final is a collage inspired by the tragic bushfires in Australia over the summer of 2019.
