About

Fragments of a Requiem is set to a portion of Ana Akhmatova's 'A Russian Requiem' (1935-1961). The piece includes several references to Soviet anthems including Glière's Hymn to the Great City, about St Petersburg/Leningrad, The Red Flag and others. The final reference is to God Save the Tsar, which was banned in Soviet times.
