About

In early 1972 when I was a student teacher at Christchurch Teachers College I had a cold mid-year and subsequently invented Sir[-]virus, an invisible leprechaun a few centimetres high who sat on my shoulder. My fellow music and arts students and I would surreptitiously take him to parties, films and classes. Consequently, I wrote these short compositions which use multiple keys at the same time to convey the character and interactions of this imaginary leprechaun. While the original hard copy score was subtitled - '4 quirky piano solos for children' this edition lacks that subtitle. The reason is that the score is not as simple as it seems seeing that the key signatures are different for both hands. This effect is to convey an unusual character as the title implies.
