Can you tell us a bit about your family, kids, where you're from etc?
I am the youngest of two siblings from Havelock North in Hawkes Bay. We are a patch work of a family in terms of interest, we all do different things which always makes our usual catch up conversations very interesting.
Where did you grow up? Where else have you lived?
I grew up in Hawkes Bay and made the move down to te whanganui-a-Tara to study and am loving it here too much to leave yet!
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I am a singer songwriter so very much enjoy my time spent working on my music. I am also a founder and co-host of the music industry podcast Awkward Talks! I guess you could call that a ‘side hustle’ and technically work. So, aside from my different forms of mahi I love cooking and baking, as well as health and wellness.
What is your earliest musical memory?
Performing the first song that I ever wrote about a boy I had a HUGE crush on (Classic) to my entire school! I’ve been an open book from day one . However, I wouldn’t say there was just one defining moment. I have always gravitated to being immersed in music and the performing arts since I was in kindergarten.
What are the values that drive you?
I think passion and connection are the two that come to mind instantly. I think when you are working in a space you are passionate about you will connect with others that fuel that passion and when you combine those two things together you have an almost unstoppable outcome.
Your top 3 favourite Podcasts?
This is really hard because I LOVE podcasts! So I’ll do my best to pick 3 from different categories.
Firstly, of course, Awkward Talks
Secondly I love the On Purpose Podcast, for a more thoughtful listen
And the final one would be The Girls Uninterrupted podcast, for a light easy to laugh along with poddy.
Who inspires you?
Anyone who is being authentically themselves. I think in a world where it is so easy to project a ‘version’ of yourself to the world, when I see anything being unapologetically themselves I’m reminded of the importance of authenticity.
How do you maintain work/life balance?
If you’re an ambitious person you are always going to push your boundaries. It’s how you respond to that that really counts. Building the confidence to set clear boundaries is an ongoing lesson for me, but it is life changing when it comes to protecting your own energy. Having an incredible partner to remind me of this is also very helpful.
