'Metamorphosis’ is a piece that explores multiple ways of interpreting a small amount of composed material. These approaches to interpreting the piece were workshopped collectively by the ensemble in rehearsal. The piece is played in a cyclical fashion with rubato rhythmic and subtle variations in approach and instrumentation on each rendition, gradually metamorphosing into a more coherent unison at the close of the work.
