The University of Auckland Clarinet Weekend is holding a composition contest of works for unaccompanied clarinet. The composition contest gives the NZ clarinet community an opportunity to hear newly composed clarinet pieces by New Zealand composers. In addition to being a competition, it will be a showcase of new works, and a chance for clarinetists to be able to meet NZ composers and become familiar with their work.
Prize money of $500 will be awarded to the first prize winner, and $300 for the second prize. In addition, the chosen pieces will be performed by professional clarinetists and published by SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music.
